And still counting

Bentley’s business has taken him to nearly 50 different countries, where he was always thrilled to find the opportunity to attend different local car shows. One favorite was Sidney, Australia on Australia Day. Rolls-Royces and other English and Australian cars were always a treat. Through the years, he collected a number of classic cars of his own, including a 1976 Pontiac Trans Am and a 1992 Camaro.

Bentley is the published author of Living the Hybrid RV Lifestyle, about his other passion, as well as the business book Checkmate: Mastering Competitive Sales Strategy. He has always dreamed of republishing Adventures of a Vintage Car Collector, adding in the stories that missed the original publication and including more color photographs of these amazing cars. His next project will be telling the tale of the last Duesenberg. Look for that soon!

Across His Lifetime

In 1957, he left New York behind and moved to Florida to marry Barbara (Bobbie) Brown. Together, they established Airguide, which manufactured central air conditioning and diffusion equipment. As you can imagine, central air conditioning in Florida became very popular at about that time and the business did quite well. Both Alan and Bobbie loved automobiles. Together, they bought, restored, showed, and collected many unique vehicles.

Their greatest thrill was winning the AACA National First Prize for their Auburn Speedster, just as the original version of this book was going to press. In this updated edition, we shared many of the fun stories of their adventures competing in car shows as they continued to collect and restore amazing cars. Both Alan and Bobbie passed in the mid 1990s, but their story lives on.
